Welcoming a new baby is one of life’s sweetest and most unforgettable moments. Those first few days go by so quickly, and before you know it, your tiny newborn is already changing. That’s why planning ahead for your newborn photos is so important!
At Amanda Milo Photography, I always recommend booking your newborn session during your second trimester or early third trimester—ideally around 20–32 weeks pregnant. Booking early helps ensure that I can reserve space on my calendar around your due date and gives you one less thing to think about as your delivery day gets closer.
Newborn sessions are best photographed within the first 5–14 days after birth. During this special window, babies are typically:
Sleepier
Easier to gently pose
Naturally curled up
More likely to settle into those sweet, cozy newborn poses
Because babies arrive on their own timeline, I schedule newborn sessions based on your estimated due date and then adjust once baby is here.
Once you reserve your newborn session, I’ll hold space around your due date. After your little one arrives, you simply reach out, and we’ll finalize the exact session date within that ideal newborn window.
This makes the process simple, stress-free, and easy for new parents.
Not always! If your baby has already arrived, definitely still reach out. I always do my best to accommodate last-minute newborn sessions when my schedule allows. Even if baby is a little older, we can still create beautiful, meaningful images that capture this special season.
A Moment You’ll Never Regret Capturing
Those tiny fingers, little toes, sleepy stretches, and fresh newborn snuggles don’t last long. Investing in newborn photos is such a beautiful way to freeze these moments in time and remember just how little they once were.
If you’re expecting and thinking about newborn photos, now is the perfect time to start planning. I would love to help create something beautiful for your family in my cozy studio.
